About Croqui
Croqui is a small, independent product: an AI drawing coach that reviews the drawings you upload and gives you one thing to practise next. It is built and run by one person, not a studio or a large company.
Who builds it
Croqui is built by Vitaliy Semenov, its founder and only developer. By trade I am a software engineer working on infrastructure and platforms. I draw myself, and Croqui started as the coach I wanted for my own sketchbook: something that says what to fix next, not just how good a drawing is.
You can find me on LinkedIn. Questions, bugs and complaints go to [email protected] — I read that inbox.
How a review is made
- You upload a photo of a drawing or a digital file. Pencil, ink, charcoal and digital work are all fine.
- An AI mentor you choose writes the review; you can switch mentors at any time. On Premium, all three mentors review each drawing and a summary brings their views together.
- Every review scores the same five axes from 0 to 10: technique, artistic choices, consistency, creativity and overall. Fixed axes make your drawings comparable over time.
- Each review ends with one exercise of about ten minutes. Your next review starts from it and shows what changed.
- Reviews are written by AI models that can read images. No person looks at your drawing, and Croqui never draws for you. On Premium it can generate one reference image for your practice plan.
What an AI can and cannot judge
AI is reliable on fundamentals: proportion, perspective, values, line and composition. It is weaker on taste — a deliberate distortion can read as a mistake. Treat the scores as a reading of fundamentals and the rest as an informed opinion. Croqui is daily practice between lessons, not a replacement for a teacher or an art community.
Plans
The free plan includes one full review a day, with no credit card and no ads. Pro costs $6.99 a month (5 reviews a day); Premium costs $16.99 a month (up to 10 reviews a day, reviewed by all three mentors). Details are on the pricing page.
How the blog is written
Articles on the Croqui blog are drafted with AI assistance and must pass an automated editorial check before they are published. They are signed “Croqui Team” because no single person writes them.
Your data
Your drawings are used to write your reviews and to show your progress. How data is stored and deleted is described in the privacy policy; the rules of the service are in the terms.
